Chooz ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Chooz mobile application and the choozmenu.com website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

  • Account information: email address and display name when you create an account.

  • Restaurant data: business name, address, phone number, operating hours, menu content, and images uploaded by restaurant owners.

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns to improve the Service.

  • Device information: device type, operating system, and browser type for compatibility and analytics.

  • Location data: approximate location (with your permission), used to show nearby restaurants and how far away they are. We only request approximate location, not your precise location.

  • Crash and error data: when the app crashes or hits an error, diagnostic details (such as the error, device and app version, and your user ID and email address) so we can identify and fix the problem.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including displaying restaurant menus to customers.

  • To create and manage your account.

  • To communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support.

  • To improve the Service through analytics and user feedback.

  • To enforce our Terms of Service and protect against misuse.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers: Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and hosting; Algolia for search functionality; Sentry for crash reporting; Resend for sending transactional email.

  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase) with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

You may:

  • Access, update, or delete your account information through the app or by contacting us.

  • Request a copy of your personal data.

  • Opt out of non-essential communications.

  • Delete your account at any time, which will remove your personal data from our systems.

7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service uses third-party services that may collect information:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, database, storage, analytics

  • Algolia — search indexing and queries

  • Sentry — crash and error reporting; receives your user ID and email address along with crash diagnostics so we can diagnose problems

  • Resend — delivery of transactional email (for example, email verification, password resets, and notifications about your restaurant listing); receives your email address and the message content

  • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — authentication (subject to their respective privacy policies)

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
